These two new boosts aim to support small businesses to increase their technological capacity and upskill staff.

Small Business Technology Investment Boost
Small businesses (with an aggregated annual turnover of less than $50 million) will be able to deduct an additional 20 per cent of the cost incurred on business expenses and depreciating assets that support digital adoption.
What covers digital adoption?
Items such as portable payment devices, cyber security systems or subscriptions to cloud-based services.

When can you apply?
This boost is relevant for expenditure between 20th March 2022 through to 30th June 2023.

How can you apply?
Simply via your yearly tax return. For the 2022 – 2023 financial year, you can claim the full 120% in your return all in one hit.
Small Business Skills and Training Boost
Likewise, a similar scheme goes for training and upskilling.
Small businesses with an aggregated annual turnover of less than $50 million will be able to deduct an additional 20% of expenditure incurred on eligible training courses provided to employees.
When can you apply?
This grant applies to expenditure between 29th March 2022 and 30th June 2024 – an additional year.
How can you apply?
Again, simply via your yearly tax return. For the 2022 – 2023 or 2023 – 2024 financial year, you can claim the full 120% in your return all in one hit.
